Kicking off their work to better address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in our community, the Santa Barbara County ACEs Connection Steering Committee met for the first time on July 27, 2018. The goal of the meeting was to begin shaping a common purpose and to highlight the importance of forming a quality network with strong relational health at the core.
Carl Palmer of LegacyWorks Group facilitated the meeting and helped the committee members clarify the purpose of the group: to work as a network with a common vision of creating Resilient Communities throughout the county, rather than working as separate organizations trying to incorporate ACEs science into their individual missions.
The thirteen steering committee members included representatives from the social sector as well as education, healthcare, county government and philanthropy. The group will meet again on August 10th.
